Following our promise and our commitment to serve the realm of Persian literature, the Farsi Action Foundation in London held the fourth edition of " Persian Poetry Night," attended by professors, poets, artists, and Persian poetry enthusiasts from the cultural sphere of the Persian language (including Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan).
The evening began with a soulful Flute(nai) performance by a respectful musician Ustad Namdar, followed by remarks from esteemed poet and writer Ustad Dastgir Nael. He spoke on the contributions of the late contemporary Persian poet Ustad Wasif Bakhtari, as well as recently deceased poet, writer and scholar, in Central Asia Mirza Shakurzada. He also recited one of Ustad Bakhtari’s poems in their memory. Poets, writers, and poetry enthusiasts in attendance recited their works, accompanied by melodic Flute(Nai) and traditional local music, enhancing the atmosphere of the event.
Adding to the evening’s charm, a Persian-speaking artistic family from Samarkand enriched the gathering with a special presentation. Not only did they prepare traditional Samarkandi dishes Special ( plau ) for attendees, but they also gave a performance featuring a flute solo by the talented daughter Farrokhandeh, a traditional dram (duf) performance by her father, Akbar Majid, and a poetry recitation by her mother, Sonobor Majidi.
The event concluded in a warm, pleasant atmosphere, with both the organiser and participants expressing a shared commitment to the continuation of this inspiring series in support of Persian literary traditions.
